No matter what help you may want, our Reading Therapy office will listen and do all we can to help.
Hi, I’m Julie, a practising therapist who has helped people for over 30 years. I’m a fully qualified therapist, registered member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society of Great Britain.
Taking the first steps to engaging in therapy can be a very personal journey.
Taking the first steps to engaging in therapy can be a very personal journey.
No matter what help you may require, our Reading Therapy sessions can be tailored to suit your needs. Below are some of the services that we provide.
“I will always be thankful for the help and insight Julie has given me.”
Putting your needs first
I offer both short and longer-term therapy and work in such a way as to address the presenting needs and situation at the time that help is being sought. Should you like to continue for longer than initially set out we will work together to help reach that happier, healthier place. I firmly believe that putting your needs first will allow you to progress through the therapy.
Active Listening
I’ve practised as a therapist for over 30 years. Counselling and therapy aren’t always easy choices to commit to. Making the environment comfortable for our sessions and allowing easy dialogue is where it all begins.
A relaxed atmosphere
Sharing your personal thoughts on any topic is difficult. More than this, sharing personal thoughts on something that is causing an issue is even harder. By allowing a relaxed atmosphere and relationship building we set the scene to enable you to feel secure. There are no “musts” in our sessions, you can share when you feel ready, otherwise we will just get to know one another.
Care
I care deeply. The pressures of mental stresses and strains can lead to difficulties coping day to day. These thoughts can be troublesome and hard to manage. Talking to a professional therapist can help adjust expectations and perceptions of these thoughts. By caring about the individual first, together, we can help to present a different, more positive, perspective.
Initially, I was referred to Julie from a colleague that had worked with her in a previous professional setting. I reached out to Julie at a time when I was mentally at my lowest after burying years of childhood issues which I had brought into my adult life. Along with some fresh challenges I didn’t know which way to turn and breaking down was a daily occurrence. I’d never had counselling before and was scared about being vulnerable and telling someone my personal thoughts. From the moment I met Julie, all those fears disappeared. I was met by this warm smile and comforting welcome. I never felt pressured to share my thoughts or feelings and our sessions progressed as and when I was ready to open up. We always ended the sessions with a hug which I took comfort in and reassured. I will always be thankful for the help and insight Julie has given me.
James
After previous unsuccessful experiences with attempting therapy, I was unsure and sceptical at first, however as soon as I heard Julie’s reassuring, clear and kind-hearted voice on our initial consultation call, I knew instantly I was in safe hands. Julie skilfully strikes the balance between allowing open, safe space to share your thoughts and experiences whilst also offering psychological insight delivered with genuine empathy to generate deep reflection. Over the last 5 months, we’ve connected many dots which I wouldn’t have been able to see through the fog without Julie’s guidance. If you’re thinking of starting therapy, take the leap with Julie!
Aimee
After going through one of the hardest times of my life, a family member recommended Julie. Having seen her at the first session, she was so friendly and welcoming and made me realise that my own thoughts and feelings were valid. Julie helped me out of a dark hole, which I didn’t feel was possible. I would 100% recommend Julie to anyone.
Denise
Julie was not my first therapist, but I’m sticking with her and hopefully she’ll be my last! Her level of psychological understanding, commitment and empathetic approach have been of immense support during some extremely challenging times in my life. Julie’s insight and guidance have helped me to develop strategies and be able to cope more effectively with life’s stresses and strains. Also, whenever I’m beginning to find life is getting difficult Julie is always on hand for some booster sessions. Julie is an extremely talented therapist, whom I have and would recommend 100%.
